New Life Baptist Church
|
Brief History
In September 1997 a small group of people met in the home of Mike Mattias to organize a Tuesday evening Bible Study and prayer meeting. Shortly after, Bro. Dean Waters and Bro. Robert Sissney met with this group and others interested, to discuss the possibiity of becoming a Mission. Another meeting was held on October 7, 1997 to discuss the purchase of the old roller rink and convert it into a church facility. Lakeside Baptist Church, under the leadership of Dr. Donald Alcorn, had agreed to serve as the sponsoring Church.
The first Sunday worship service was held at a members home on October 8, 1997. Future worship services were held at private homes until the roller rink was purchased and made ready to use as a chapel, after much work. The roller rink was purchased pursuant to a deal agreed upon in January 1998. Bro. Dean Waters served as pastor from the time of the mission inception until May 1999 when he resigned.
The pulpit was filled by guest speakers from May 1999 until November 1999 when Bro. John Tygert became interim pastor. Bro. Joe Conger became pastor in April 2000 and served until August 19, 2001.
Bro. Jack Vance became interim pastor on August 26, 2001 and accepted the call as pastor on November 4, 2001.
Work has never stopped on the mission facility as improvements are continually being made. More importantly, the Lord's work has been consistant. Throughout the years there have been numerous baptisms, rededications, and ordination, one surrendered to the gospel ministry, and many transfers of membership from other churches. God has richly blessed! He is so good. Mission giving was established at 10% in April 1998 and was increased to 16% in April 2003.
The frequent singspirations have served as a great community outreach and have resulted in several additions to our membership. Vacation Bible School is an important outreach ministry to our membership and as such has been held each year.

Vacation Bible School
A Vacation Bible School is held each year after the schools are dismissed for the summer.
Church Mission
Our church is a country church which seeks to glorify God with our love for each other and to spread His word to all with whom we come into contact. We also support world missions through the Southern Baptist Convention Cooperative program as well as contributing to the Baptist Retirement Home, the Baptist Ridge Camp, and the Baptist Children's Home. Everyone is welcome to come worship with us and enjoy the friendly members who worship here.
